Millbank Group are set to save £336,759 on their energy costs with solar
Project overview
Milbank Concrete Products, a leader in sustainable practices, partnered with SunLite Group to install an 80.36kW solar PV system at their Colchester facility. Designed to meet Milbank’s substantial energy needs, the system has already delivered remarkable results.
80 kW system size
196 solar panels installed
£15,243 avg. yearly savings
£336,759 est. lifetime bill savings
17 tonnes of CO2 offset per year
283 equivalent trees planted per year
Immediate cost savings and long-term financial benefits
In the first year alone, Milbank achieved a 47.4% reduction in electricity costs, equating to annual savings of approximately £15,243. Over the projected system lifespan, cumulative savings are expected to exceed £336,759, providing a strong return on investment that covers the initial installation cost of £54,508 and contributes to a stronger financial future for Milbank.
With a rapid payback period of just 3.7 years, this solar installation demonstrates the value of renewable energy investment. The internal rate of return (IRR) further highlights the project’s financial strength, offering Milbank a path to long-term cost savings and greater energy independence.
Environmental impact and carbon footprint reduction
Beyond the financial gains, Milbank’s solar investment is a significant step toward their sustainability goals. The system is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 17 tons annually, equivalent to removing 492,248 car kilometres or planting 3,165 trees over its lifetime. This substantial environmental impact aligns with global carbon reduction efforts. With an expected self-sufficiency rate of over 34.4%, Milbank’s reliance on the national grid has significantly decreased, making them less vulnerable to energy price fluctuations.
Tailored system design and optimised performance
SunLite Group’s expert team conducted a thorough assessment of Milbank’s site, carefully designing an installation that maximises both space and energy generation. The system includes 196 high-efficiency HT SAAE 410W modules paired with an 80kW Solis 5G Pro inverter, ensuring optimal output and long-term reliability. Using advanced Renusol MetaSol+ mounting across skylights, SunLite minimised disruption and avoided additional costs by eliminating the need for re-cladding, while ensuring ease of access for maintenance.
Thanks to the strategic design and robust equipment, the installation is expected to generate approximately 66,631 kWh of energy per year. This output covers a substantial portion of Milbank’s energy requirements, with most of the solar power generated being used onsite, further maximising savings.

Protect your business against energy price volatility by reducing grid reliance
Source: Office for National Statistics and YCharts.com
In recent years, the UK energy market has become highly unpredictable, with sharp spikes and fluctuations in electricity prices. Businesses have faced escalating costs and uncertainty due to dramatic shifts driven by global events, supply chain disruptions, geopolitical tensions, and changing market conditions. This volatility poses a real risk to business stability and profitability, especially if you’re heavily dependent on grid-supplied electricity.
At Sunlite Group, we believe there’s a way to regain control over your energy expenses: commercial solar power. By switching to solar, you can stabilise your energy costs and future-proof your business. Generating your own electricity reduces your reliance on the unpredictable grid, helping you avoid sudden price surges and long-term increases. Solar power provides a consistent, reliable source of energy, empowering you to manage costs effectively and plan with confidence, no matter how volatile the market becomes.
Going solar also positions your business at the forefront of the UK's shift towards renewables, keeping you aligned with future regulations and protecting you from potential carbon taxes. Not only does this make your business more resilient, but it also boosts your appeal to customers and partners who value sustainability.
With government incentives, reduced technology costs, and the opportunity to cut operational expenses, now is the ideal time to explore how commercial solar power with Sunlite Group can shield your business from energy market uncertainty and pave the way for a stable, sustainable future.
